The renovation of the building housing the Maternal and Child Health Services at the Huambo General Hospital has led to a significant improvement in the medical services provided, as well as in the overall health conditions in the province. The main building has a total construction area of 6,200 m², spread over 3 floors.
The renovated building currently has 1 operating room, 1 recovery room, 1 resuscitation room, 1 cesarean section room, 3 delivery rooms, 2 newborn care rooms, 1 intermediate-care room for 16 incubators, 1 intensive-care room for 8 incubators, and 1 neonatal intensive-care room with capacity for 8 incubators. intermediate care unit for newborns with capacity for 16 incubators, 1 intensive care unit for newborns with capacity for 8 incubators, 1 intensive care isolation unit for newborns with capacity for 3 incubators, 1 nursery, 1 pre-delivery room with capacity for 7 beds, 1 post-delivery room with capacity for 6 beds, 4 observation rooms with capacity for 14 beds, 1 inhalation therapy room, pre-delivery room with capacity for 7 beds, 1 post-delivery room with capacity for 6 beds, 4 observation rooms with capacity for 14 beds, 1 group inhalation room, 4 treatment rooms, 1 ultrasound room, 1 sterilization unit, 1 laboratory room, 1 X-ray room, 1 dentistry room, 1 triage room, and 13 ultrasound room, 1 sterilization unit, 1 laboratory, 1 X-ray room, 1 dental room, 1 triage room, 13 physician’s offices, 56 patient rooms with a capacity for 194 beds, 1 intermediate care unit with a capacity for 9 beds, 7 staff break rooms, 2 classrooms, 3 dining halls, 6 clean/dirty rooms, and 8 nurse’s stations; .
Outside the building, covering an area of 5,500 m², the following were completed: roadways and two parking lots with a capacity for 48 vehicles, including landscaping.
