The General Plan for Integrated Water Resources Management (PGGIRH) for the Zambezi River covers its basin within Angolan territory, spanning an area of 150,000 km².
The main objectives of this plan include: ensuring water supply for the entire population; preventing and mitigating the effects of floods and droughts; ensuring water availability for the various sectors of socio-economic activity; and restoring the quality of surface and groundwater.
This study consists of four phases, ranging from the characterization and assessment of the current situation to the finalization of the corresponding plan.
In parallel with the PGGIRH, the Strategic Environmental Assessment and Community Participation processes took place.
